It's 2012! Some time during 2012 this website will be relaunched in a new format. It will continue to be my personal website, but it will also serve as a one stop shop to everything you need to know about boys' singing. A major rationalisation of all the various websites associated with that project is long overdue. It's suffered from two problems really. First of all, it grew like the railway mania of the nineteenth century. New webpages dealing with little bits all over the place and no town planning. Was Beeching as black as they painted? Second, we probably overdid the child protection bit. It's very important, of course, to keep all the boys associated with BKS safe on-line, but perhaps we overdid it and made the old sites so like Fort Knox that nobody can get into them. You may have noticed that we've changed the home page of www.boys-keep-singing.org so that more content is available before you have to register and log-in. This site will have similar technology to separate out the freely available public domain material from the restricted access material.
I'd hoped that this would all happen on 1st January, but it's taking a lot longer in the development as these things do. So I've put quite a lot of the new content on this old site. It's well worth browsing if you think you know what's here, because you'll find many changes. Most significant are the Help pages, designed for conductors and teachers of boys' singing. These will be added to each month as the material accumulates for the new site. Some of the best material from the old BKS network, which is to be discontinued, will be transferred to these pages.
Meanwhile I am greatly looking forwards to the first full rehearsal of Cambiata North West. We have 52 boys signed up to come to a rhearsal in Blackburn on Saturday, with the prospect of the numbers climbing into three figures. Hopefully there will be much to report on this site about this over the coming months.
